Used 8” and 12″ Industrial Crane Mats – Grading Guide

Crane mats are graded based on overall wear and structural condition using a simple A–C scale. Grade A mats are like new with minimal wear, Grade B shows moderate use but remains solid, and Grade C has heavier wear yet is still usable. Grading considers timber integrity, bolt condition, and overall durability to ensure suitability for various job site needs.

Grade A – Like New

• Minimal wear
• All timbers, rods, and bolts intact
• Clean, square ends with solid pick points on both sides

Grade B – Good Condition

• Moderate wear
• Timbers intact, may have worn ends
• No missing rods: some bolts may be bent
• Usable pick points both ends

Grade C – Fair / Heavily Used

• Significant wear but still functional
• No broken center timbers
• May have damaged bolts or past repairs
• At least one good pick point
